Last July, AEG began working on the Meriden Housing Authority’s and Westmount Development Group’s 24 Colony Street project. When completed, the project will feature street level commercial space and residential apartments on the floors above. It will also feature a parking garage, which commuters can use for the new train station, new shops and restaurants.
In the last update, the vertical geothermal field had been completed, and the foundations were being set. Now, the exterior of the building is nearly complete, and the parking garage has been erected. For AEG, the next step will be connecting the lateral piping from the geothermal field to the mechanical room and installing manifolds and heat pumps for the geothermal system. The residential portion of the building is expected to be completed and operational by the end of 2016, with the commercial space being completed and operational by 2017.
